The independent, non-commercial festival SapfoFest has been strengthening queer-feminist community in Lithuania since 2014. This year, the festival came back with a message Stronger Together. In 2021, public discourse surrounding queer and female population in Lithuania was filled with hate, to which Sapfo responded with further uniting the community, providing safe visibility and resilience.
Overall, the festival was a success, gathering around 300 participants from queer and feminist groups, individuals. While the pandemic posed certain challenges for international travellers, festival organizers were still successful in engaging new local and international collaborations. Also, this year the festival launched a radio, broadcasting the programme to those who couldn’t attend physically.
